Background:
Built in 1878 in a Cotswolds Valley as a British School linked to the Baptist Chapel. The foundation stone was laid by Sir Moreton Peto, architect of Nelson's Column. Small school with good community links; close ties with the local secondary school, chapel, old peoples' day centre, Womens' Institute. Has an annual fund-raising evening for the Save the Children Fund. School garden in the churchyard opposite the site. European ties with links to schools in Holland, germany, Greece, Czech Republic and Belgium. Proud of its 'family' atmosphere; 'we know all our pupils and families, as well as many of the villagers'.
