Background:
The school was founded in 1962. In 1981 it became one of the first 'community' schools in Gloucestershire. In 1993 it became a grant maintained school and in 1999 a foundation school. In 1980 a science block was added and a new foreign languages suite opened in 1997. The school has recently opened a fitness suite next to the gym and a new music suite. The school grounds contain excellent hockey, rugby and soccer pitches, tennis courts, a cricket field and other informal recreational space. The school offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs is offered at lunchtime and after-school which include drama, basketball, volleyball, environmental studies, cookery club, athletics, swimming, dance, football, netball, hockey, cricket, art. Year 9 pupils are offered residential outdoor activities and regular exchange visits to Germany. The school aims to provide a truly comprehensive education, tailored the needs of individual pupils.
