Background:
The Ridings High was opened in the suburban village of Winterbourne in 1957. Considerable sums have been spent to maintain the school and develop new buildings and it offers a state-of-the-art technology centre (now a regional academy for CISCO), an outstanding sixth form centre and an arts centre which has a regional reputation for its professional programme. The school enjoys considerable sporting success at regional and national level, particularly in rugby, football and netball. The school provides facilities including a swimming pool and new all-weather pitch, which is regularly used by the community. The parents are very active in raising funds. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere.
