Background:
The school is set in a small village environment in the heart of the Cotswolds. Children are taught in five classes, which are of mixed ability and follow a 'wide and varied curriculum'. Leighterton aims to enable children 'to reach their potential in a stimulating caring environment'. Extra-curricular activities include the opportunity to learn the recorder, violin, guitar or clarinet and to take part in football, netball, cross country running, cricket, athletics and badminton. Children can also take part in French lessons for a small charge and all pupils in Years 5 and 6 receive cycling proficiency training. Children with special educational needs (SEN) receive teaching in small groups two mornings a week.
