Background:
FAmberley Parochial School founded in 1836 and situated in Amberley village on the side of a Cotswold valley approximately three miles south of Stroud and surrounded by some 650 acres of National Trust common land. It is a small village school with a roll of approximately 110 children organised in four classes. The present school was built in 1888 to replace the school rooms. The Green at the front of the school and the Plantation at the rear are both used as extra resources for play and learning as is Minchinhampton Common, which virtually surrounds the school. The school consists of four classrooms, a new hall, a library and a resources room. It also provides various activities such as rounders, rock band, athletics club and chess club. Ethos: 'The school aims to create a safe, secure and supportive environment where children are able to learn through exploration and enquiry'.
