Background:
This small, two-class school was founded in 1850 and the original building is still used for one classroom, the library and office, the second classroom being housed in a temporary building. The school has a hard play area and a wildlife garden on site and makes use of the village hall and village playing field when required. Located in a small Cotswold village, the school draws its pupils from Southrop, Eastleach and the nearby towns of Fairford and Lechlade and achieves 'outstanding' academic results. Extra-curricular sports are supported by links with the Leach Valley Family Sports Club which give pupils the opportunity to participate in football, tennis, rounders, table tennis and netball. The pupils are involved in fund-raising at least once a term and support charities from international to local village level.
