Background:
Ashleworth is a Church of England voluntary controlled school for pupils aged 4-11. The school was built in 1842 primarily for the poor people attending Ashleworth Church. It is situated on the village The Green at the heart of an active community of Ashleworth. The school comprises of one main Key Stage 2 classroom, a library and an office area. An Elliot building stands adjacent to the main building for Key Stage 1 children. The Green is used for some sporting activities and the village hall is used for physical education and creative dance. Children are encouraged to take an active interest in the community. At Harvest time the school helps decorate the church and at Christmas it goes for carol singing in aid of charity. The school offers a variety of clubs during school year including gardening, art, French, recorders, needlework, netball and country dancing. The school has a 'caring, sharing' ethos. It aims to provide a happy and safe environment in which children are encouraged to develop to their full potential in stimulating surroundings.
