Background:
St Lawrence School is situated at the edge of open fields by the banks of the River Thames. It is still housed in the original buildings which date back to 1853. These consist of seven classrooms, a 'large well-equipped' gymnasium, a dining room, an office, staffroom and library. Outside there are 'large' playing fields, a woodland and wildlife area, an outdoor classroom, an adventure playground and a surfaced playing area. Close links are fostered with the Parish Church, community and the parents who are encouraged to participate in the education of their children. A variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs are available including the Euro-club which is part of the Comenius project. 'At St Lawrence we aim to provide a happy, secure and stimulating learning environment where each child can make full use of his or her ability and interests'.
