Background:

Built in 1971, the school is situated in the middle of a private housing estate on the edge of Chipping Sodbury, a highly favoured area to live and work in. Parental support for the school is generally good and Raysfield is held in high regard by the local community. The junior school shares the same open plan site as the infants school and a recently built parish hall. There is plenty of outside space for sports, play and environmental work. The school also has an outdoor heated swimming pool. There are two levels to the school building, which forms an interesting layout of adequate teaching space. There are eight main classrooms, a separate hall used for assemblies, physical education and dining and an additional area for resources, group teaching, and a library. The school has a good tradition of effective education and a good reputation for music, sports and swimming activities, and involves itself in many local events. The school aims to provide a balanced, stimulating, educational environment, enabling everyone to reach their full potential in a friendly, caring atmosphere.
