Background:
Deer's Wood Primary was opened in 1966. The pupils are organised within 14 classes, six infant and eight juniors with parallel classes in each year group. A range of extra-curricular activites is offered including football, touch rugby, choir, recorders, chess, Italian, cycling proficiency and drama. Music is important to the school and older children are offered the chance to learn a brass instrument. Senior citizens are invited in to the school twice yearly to watch a concert put on by pupils and to stay afterwards for tea. This is organised by the Friends of the School Committee. Pupils at the school frequently arrange their own activities to sponsor charities.
