Background:

Slimbridge School was opened in 1906 to serve the villages of Cambridge and Slimbridge at a cost of £2000. It had three classes of children aged four-11. It has since expanded to four classes and in 1999 the old school hall was demolished and a classroom has been converted into a new hall. In addition a new classroom, ICT room/library and servery were completed in September 1999 and in 2003 a new administration block comprising reception, school office, head's office, staff room and toilets was built. The four classes are housed in the original building and one additional classroom. It is surrounded by a large playground and grassed area, which includes creative play areas and shaded seating. The school also has access to a large field where outdoor sports take place. The school offers various extra-curricular club activities for the children. These activities include: netball, football, book club potted sports, rounders cross-country and recorders. A small friendly village school where every child is known for their individual strengths.
