Background:
The school opened in its current building in 1909 and a new extension was added in 1999. This blends in well with the old school and fits in with the surrounding conservation and green belt area. The Meadows offers a range of extra-curricular activities including choir, country dancing, football, netball, rugby and keep fit. There is also an art club which has exhibited work in Bristol Cathdral. In the year beginning 1998, the school was successful in wining tournaments in rugby, football and cricket. There are established links with the local church and playgroup. Each year the school adopts a charity and raises money to support it. The Parent-Teacher Association helps when the school itself needs money and in 1998 a special appeal raised money to refurbish the library, quiet area and cooking area. 'We seek to develop a caring, welcoming environment in which each child is valued and encouraged to do their best'.
