Background:
Highnam is a co-educational day school for children aged between 4 and 11 years. The school was built in 1981 to serve the growing village of Highnam. It has a well-equipped hall, ICT suite and a large playground and sports field. The classrooms are stimulating and purposeful, providing a safe, happy, caring and well ordered environment which is conducive to learning. The school'strongly recognise and appreciate the partnership of children, parents, staff, governors and thecommunity and aims to provide every opportunity for all children to develop their abilities to the fullest extent. Extra-curricular activities available are choir, football, French, netball, recorders (beginners/intermediate/seniors), rugby, school orchestra and tennis. The school was awarded 'Beacon Status' in 2000. Highnam School wants to provide a stimulating environment and a happy atmosphere in which all children can achieve their full potential, both academically and socially, so that they can become adaptable, fulfilled members of a changing society.
